For a while now my little pet hedgehog Silver was sick,I took him to the vet and had him treated for infection but he still continued to pass blood when he would litter. He was getting worse and worse..staggering when he walked and then I found out it was most likely cancer.
It was painful to watch him as he became thinner and thinner, I tried to make everything easy for him to reach and continued to love him.
Last night-early this morning Silver passed away,I found him curled up under his towel. I already miss him so much. He was my first hedgehog and he made everyone fall in love with him. I...I just can't go into his room right now,cause it hurts to much to see his hut empty....
I put him in a padded ceramic container...with his favorite toy,a small silk rose since he loved roses and a small charm of Sonic with his name engraved on it from his carrier,and sealed it so the rain and time won't touch him.
He now rests under the cherry tree in the back yards flower beds. I'm going to make a marker to place over his resting place so that it will never be disturbed.
You lived a long time and you were greatly loved Silver. I will never forget you,you were a special little hedgehog to me and to so many others. I know toward the end you were is so much pain. So now you can finally have your rest and be happy in a place where neither time nor death can touch you.
Sleep well Silver,and I know one day maybe I will see you again.
